  • Hello and Welcome

I am Helen Cuthbert, a retired Church of Scotland Minister now living in Kilmarnock after eleven and a half very fulfilling years as Parish Minister in New Cumnock, Ayrshire.

Before going into Ministry, my working life was in Education – as a French teacher in a Scottish Secondary School then as a Trainer of Secondary English Teachers in Sudan, first with Voluntary Service Overseas (VSO), then with the British Council and for most of the time with the University of Khartoum, Faculty of Education. After returning to Scotland in the late 1990’s I was a self-employed piano and keyboard teacher for a number of years.

I was also a student teacher in France for a year and an exchange teacher to Kentucky also for a year.

Outside work, my main hobbies and interests include writing poems and songs (serious and silly!), local history, music (especially Country and Blue Grass), being a Face Book follower. Although retired from full-time Ministry, I still preach on occasions and write materials for worship. Never a day goes by when I don’t marvel at the greatness and graciousness of God, especially in his gifting to us of Jesus His son, our Saviour and the Holy Spirit our ‘heavenly companion’.
